Pels Off to a Slow Start, Can They Turn it Around?

Man, not a lot has been going right for the New Orleans Pelicans so far this season. The Pels dropped their third game of the season last night against the Boston Celtics 122-90. New Orleans is off to a cold start in the 2025-26 season, losing all three of their games so far.

The Pelicans looked completely outmatched last night in all aspects of the game. As a team, shooting 33.3% from the field, 25% from three, and getting out-rebounded 54-35, you will never win a game in the NBA. Even beyond the box score, the team looked dead from the very start. I had hope when Jose Alvarado checked into the game and got his first steal. What I believed could jolt the team back to life turned out to be a quick spark that fizzled out within minutes. That being said, there is one player on the Pels that I want to shine some positive light on.

DeAndre Jordan, the 37 year old playing his first home game in New Orleans came off the bench and threw down two monster jams in his first few minutes. More than anything, this was just great to see as a basketball fan, the 17-year veteran checking into the game and proving that he still has some dawg in him. The cherry on top, DJ even hit a free throw.

Looking ahead, the Pelicans play in Denver against Nikola Jokić and friends on Wednesday, October 29th. Jokić, by the way, is coming off a monster triple double including 25 points and 19 rebounds against Minnesota. The entirety of New Orleans are hoping that the Pels can contain Jokić and turn their cold start around.
